The pale rose shade is attained by the inclusion of still red pinot noir wine to a blend of still wines produced from pinot noir and chardonnay. The pinot noir wine must be of outstanding quality. The addition of chardonnay is crucial to the identity of Dom Perignon Rose, a essential ingredient in making a wine of perfect balance.
On the nose, initial floral and perfumed hints blossom rapidly, leading to bouquet of orange peel and dried fruits which bring to mind the aroma of fresh harvests and woody spices. Dom Perignon Rose Vintage 1998 is matured in the champagne cellars of Epernay for nine years to express its complete richness and depth today. As such, Dom Perignon Roses remain as a rare commodity owed to the modest amounts offered from each vintage year.
Everything started in 1668, when the young monk Pierre Peacuterignon was appointed cellar master of the Benedictine Abbey of Hautvillers, France. Paying respect to the divine creator, he made it his mandate to create the 'best wine in the world'. Dom Pérignon pursues three centuries later the work of the man who is considered the creator of Champagne. Released only as a vintage, Dom Pérignon is blended to reach a perfect balance of black and white grapes. Only the very finest Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes are chosen from any of the 17 Grand Crus and all Premiers Crus of Champagne, including the renowned Hautvillers. All Dom Perignon Champagne is aged for a minimum of 7 years, sometimes decades, to achieve its unique style; vibrant, tactile and complex.
